(reliquary)

(reliquary) is a hand-turned chair formed from reclaimed beech, echoing liturgical rhythm through the repetition of components and stretcher heights. Sculpturally and symbolical, it meditates on the act of support, as posture, structure, and offering, bridging labour and ritual in a quiet invocation of presence.

Researched and refined

I wanted to focus on showcasing the craft of woodturning in a new light, bringing a contemporary and interesting attention to the craft. I also wanted to develop a comfortable and utilitarian object that could be used an a variety of different settings, such as being used around a design space while enhancing the environment.
